Claude Shannon takes a break from MIT and heads to Manhattan’s Bell Labs (near Greenwich Village). Bell Labs is a paradise for inventors: theory and practice intersect in chance encounters in the long corridors and cafeterias. The cross-fertilization of different disciplines and skills will indeed be the perfect recipe for the Third Industrial Revolution (and for innovation in general).
