Thomas Alva Edison is only two years old, and these are his earliest memories: he crawls to reach a silver dollar thrown by a suitor for his sister Marion. A caravan of covered wagons passes by, headed west. In one of those wagons is his Uncle Snow Edison, following the gold rush in the great American West.
