The Italian delegation to negotiate war reparations with the Americans departs for New York. It is composed of Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Dino Grandi, four diplomats, an industrialist (Alberto Pirelli), a banker (Mario Alberti of Credito Italiano), and two economists. The debt amounts to $2 billion, 138 million, 543 thousand, and 582 million. It is decided that the debt will be repaid in 62 years. The following year, the delegation travels to London to see Churchill for the same reason.
