The British interception of Enigma at Bletchley Park allowed the Royal Navy to intercept and neutralize the fearsome Italian Royal Fleet off Cape Matapan. It would be one of the last major naval battles fought by the Italians. The cause of the defeat would be discovered in 1978 by Dr. Giulio Devita, editor of the Italian version of the book The Ultra Secret, who sought to delve deeper into the matter.
