Samarkand, USSR. Professor Gerasimov, sent from Moscow, and his assistants open Tamerlane’s tomb. They do so at night to avoid the reaction of the people, who fear great disaster if the great conqueror’s sleep is disturbed. The next day, Nazi Germany invades the USSR. Examining the skeleton, they find signs of two serious wounds to the leg and arm.
