Farmagosta, Cyprus. After 120,000 iron balls and 43,000 stone balls fired at the fortress walls, the Italians decide to negotiate surrender. The Turks had brought to Cyprus 7,000 horses and 250,000 soldiers, including 40,000 sappers, 70 cannons, and 4 basilisks. They suffered 80,000 casualties. The Italians had 3,700 soldiers, of whom 2,400 fell in combat or in the final massacre.
