Apollo 11: Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin make the first attempt to land on the Moon with the Command Module Columbia and the Lunar Module Eagle; they remain on the Moon for 21 hours and 36 minutes, walk on the Moon for 2 hours and 31 minutes, and collect 21.6 kg of lunar samples; Location: Sea of Tranquility; the Saturn V is the G model; they also leave a retro-reflecting mirror on the Moon (other mirrors are left by the Apollo 14 and 15 missions) which is still used as a mirror by terrestrial lasers to measure the lunar distance to the nearest centimeter.
