James III lands in Scotland. He is the son of Maria Beatrice d’Este and James II Stuart. He quickly conquers several cities and is acclaimed by the population (who, like him, were Catholic). The King of Spain sends him a ship full of gold bars to finance his campaign, but it sinks to the bottom of the sea in a storm. Lacking further funding, James III is forced to abandon each of the conquered cities one by one, and finally returns to France, humiliated even before being defeated, like his father.
