The experimental detection of gravitational waves has been confirmed. Confirmed with a confidence level of 5.1 sigma, the same level of confidence as, for example, the observation of the Higgs Boson. Rumors of the discovery of gravitational waves had been circulating for months. An article by Adrian Cho in Science Magazine turns it into a certainty: the American LIGO antennas have indeed recorded the phenomenon that Einstein predicted exactly a hundred years ago with the theory of general relativity. The ripples in space-time were produced by an extremely violent phenomenon: the merger of two black holes with masses 36 and 29 times that of the Sun. Three solar masses would have been transformed into gravitational waves. This final piece of the puzzle completes the experimental detection of all the effects of General and Special Relativity.
