Giordano Bruno was burned at the stake in Campo de’ Fiori in Rome, where a statue of him stands today. He was burned at the stake by the Inquisition for denying the sanctity of Jesus Christ, ecclesiastical authority, and for teaching Copernican ideas. He also predicted that there were infinite worlds in the universe with intelligent life, some, perhaps, with civilizations superior to that of humans.
