Greece. Ministers of the communist-inspired National Liberation Front (EAM) resign from the government. Demonstrators take to the streets. Police open fire, killing at least 10 people and wounding over 150. British forces stationed in the country later intervene. There is street fighting in the “red” suburbs of Athens, and even low-level strafing by RAF fighters. The armistice is signed in February 1945.
