The agreement proposed by FCA (Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles) to PSA is signed. The world’s fourth-largest automotive giant, with a turnover of €190 billion, is born, behind Volkswagen, Toyota, and Renault-Nissan. Among the brands represented are FIAT, Chrysler, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Maserati, Ferrari, Lancia, Abarth, Vauxhall, DS Automobiles, RAM, and Dodge. The new company will be headquartered in the Netherlands with operations in the United States, Italy, and France. It sells 9 million vehicles annually, with revenues of nearly €170 billion and a current operating profit of over €11 billion. For Fiat Chrysler, this represents the culmination of a process initiated by Sergio Marchionne, who believed mergers in the automotive industry were inevitable.
