Libya. Three motorized battalions of Indian Gurkhas and Scottish Camerons and an artillery unit with a squadron of Valentine tanks are the spearhead of the British advance, forming the southern branch of the pincer movement to close around Tobruk (where the Australians are still holding out). It is the beginning of the Battle of Bir e Gobi.
