Nishapur: Prince Tuli’s Mongols kill 1,747,000 people (1,747,000). At the end of the massacre, the remains of the city are inspected for any survivors. Only 400 artisans are spared and deported to Mongolia. Huge piles of heads and human remains are erected. Then the city is razed to the ground. Today, in the 21st century, it is still a small town. Nothing remains of its glorious past. This area of Central Asia, like some parts of the Middle East, will never return to its former glory.
