WD Hamilton and GC Williams complete the gene’s point of view on evolution, within the framework of neo-Darwinism: the fundamental unit of life is the Replicator, that is, the gene. Over time, only the most efficient ones have survived in large numbers. Among them, those who collaborated with each other, or the parasites, have managed to create discrete vehicles (cells, and, later, animal bodies) with which to promote their own efficient propagation, starting from a single cell (the ovule) which multiplies into trillions of cells with the same genes with the aim of producing a single cell, the offspring, with possibly better genes, which gives rise to a new body (vehicle) with uniform genes, capable of continuing the chain.
