Oskar Klein discovered what would become known as Yang-Mills fields (rediscovered in 1954 and used from 1973 onwards to construct the Standard Model). Klein presented his work in Warsaw, titled “New Physical Theories.” Then, with the chaos of World War II and the rise of quantum physics, the Kaluza-Klein theory was forgotten.
