Prussia. Kaiser Frederick recognized the strategic importance of the work of the English Quaker Benjamin Robins, “New Principles of Gunnery,” and had it translated into German by Leonhard Euler, himself a brilliant mathematician. Euler improved the original by adding an extensive appendix of tables. A French translation was produced the following year, 1751.
