Puglia. Soldiers commanded by the Duke of Melfi arrive to aid Otranto, which is besieged by the Turks. They intercept approximately 400 Ottoman raiders who have entered the hinterland, and the battle erupts. The Ottomans are partly dispersed and partly captured. The severed heads of several Turks are paraded in Lecce. Other prisoners are lynched during the parade by the “femene ad colpi de preda.”
