Chinese President Xi Jinping, in office for a year, delivers a historic speech outlining his new strategy: “More than 2,100 years ago, under the Han Dynasty of Western China, the Emperor’s representative, Zhang Qian, was twice sent to Central Asia to establish trade relations. Today, let us unite to build the New Silk Road Economic Belt, a great cause that will benefit all peoples along this route.” China will allocate more than $1 trillion for this project.
