Palestinian attack on Israeli athletes’ delegation at the Munich Olympics: the victims are 11 athletes, 1 German agent, and 5 terrorists; one Israeli athlete is shot dead immediately, another is killed while trying to escape the hotel and left to bleed out on the floor in front of his teammates; German security forces attempt to intervene from the roof, only to discover at the last minute that the terrorists were watching them on television; then the terrorists and hostages are transferred by helicopter to the airport, where (only) five snipers open fire on them. The gunfight continues for some time until the last terrorists throw a grenade at one helicopter and machine-gun the other with the hostages, killing them all. The three surviving terrorists will never be tried because on October 29th a small plane is hijacked and demands are made for the release of the three, who are hastily transferred to Lebanon; two will be killed by the Mossad in the following years.
