Off the coast of Hawaii. The Hughes Glomar Explorer, in a ceremony as close as possible to the official Soviet Navy one, buries the remains of the sailors found on K-129 at sea. They include six intact bodies, covered by the Soviet flag, and hundreds of other unidentified human remains. To learn the exact official Soviet procedure, Nicholas Shadrin, a Soviet exile and former sailor who had fled to the West via Sweden in 1959, is brought aboard.
