Persia. Xerxes, King of Kings, the despotic leader of Persia, after five years of building a mighty army, is ready to launch a surprise attack on the Greeks. But his preparations for the attack have been closely observed by Demaratus, an exiled Greek living in Susa, Persia, who sends a message to the Spartans. The message is carved into wooden tablets and then covered in wax. When the message reaches the Spartans, no one knows what to do with it until Gorgo, daughter of Cleomenes and wife of Leonidas, figures it out. Two hundred ships are built with the profits from the silver mines, and when the Persians arrive, the Greeks are ready.
