The Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, attended by Jimmy Carter, provide for the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Sinai and formal Egyptian recognition of the State of Israel. On March 27, 1979, the Peace Treaty between Israel and Egypt was signed. The Golan Heights remained excluded from the treaties.
