Stalingrad. Von Paulus launches what the OKW believes is the final offensive to take the city. Lyudnikov’s Soviet division is shattered, the rubble of the Red October factory is captured, and the Volga is reached for the third time. Tchuikov is on the brink of collapse but cannot retreat under Stalin’s strict orders. The eastern bank of the Volga does not exist for him.
