United States. American Airlines Flight 191, a DC-10, literally loses an engine, crashes to the ground, killing all 271 people on board. One of McDonnell’s executives, hired directly by James “Old Mac” McDonnell, is Pete Conrad, the third man on the moon with Apollo 12. Pete is one of those responsible for analyzing the accident, which turns out to be a serious problem of inadequate maintenance to save time, which caused the entire engine support pylon to detach.
