Ken Olsen, president of DEC, stated, “I see no reason why anyone would want their own computer.” This comment was made at a DEC meeting where he was asked to make a smaller, cheaper version of the PDP-8. As a result, the personal and home computer revolution would begin in the garages of Apple and Altair.
