Neil Armstrong makes an official trip to the Soviet Union (the second American astronaut to do so): he is greeted with a red carpet, but no crowds, as the news had been kept confidential. Here, he meets the Tupolevs (father Andrey and son Adrian) and Tereshkova, the first woman in space. The Russians are presented with a small piece of the Moon and a small Soviet flag carried on the Moon. Armstrong is invited to the Soviet Union by the Soviet Academy of Sciences: Leningrad, Moscow, Star City, and Novosibirsk.
