Tortona. While Frederick and his Teutonic troops were already in the Piacenza area, the Milanese under Sarezzano entered the ruins of Tortona, where they joined forces with about fifty local fighters. The Ambrosian troops then regained possession of the city, and the Pavia troops alone lacked the courage to give them battle. The Milanese began rebuilding the city and its defenses.
