Seoul, South Korea. Fourth Battle of Seoul (in less than two years), or Operation Ripper. General Ridgway’s Eighth Army manages to retake the capital and push the Chinese and North Koreans out. The operation is a success; 566 American soldiers and thousands of Chinese soldiers remain on the ground.
