Fulton, Missouri. Winston Churchill, in a famous speech, declared: “From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the continent. Behind that line lies all the capitals of ancient states of Central and Eastern Europe (…) in what I must call the Soviet Sphere.” It’s hard for Americans to accept that, just after a terrible and challenging conflict has ended, they must prepare for a new one, especially one with a former ally: the Soviet Union. Furthermore, Americans frown upon the British Empire (for obvious reasons) and consider the British position selfish and biased.
