Wernher Magnus Maximilian Von Braun was born in Wirsitz, East Germany, to Baron Magnus Freiherr and Emmy Von Quistorp. He was born into a noble Prussian family: the von Brauns fought the Mongols at Liegnitz in 1245. Wernher Von Braun would be the architect of the V-2 and the Saturn-V, which carried 12 men to the moon.
