Brescia. When Austrian emissaries arrived to collect the fine for finding weapons in the city, the population rebelled, and within hours the entire town fell into the hands of the Civic Guard, and the Austrians retreated to the castle. From the fortress, they bombarded the city for ten days and fired snipers at the population. The battle escalated.
