total of 139 minor planetary bodies have been discovered in the Kuiper Belt. They join the 3,000 already known trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs). The discovery was made using data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile, collected from 2013 to 2017. They are all located within 30 to 90 astronomical units of the Sun.
