Duchy of Modena and Reggio. Plebiscite for annexation to the Kingdom of Sardinia. Voters: 108,798 out of 131,527 registered; 108,336 in favor. For the Massa and Carrara portion of the Duchy of Modena: voters: 23,584 out of 36,814 registered; 23,492 in favor (with only 62 votes against, excluding invalid votes). A vote had already been held to elect an assembly for annexation to the Kingdom of Sardinia in August 1859.
