March 1, 1945

The Bachem Ba-349 Natter (Viper), designed in 1944, was a single-use fighter aircraft, mostly made of wood, armed with 24 rockets in a honeycomb on the nose, designed to slaughter Allied bombers by swooping down on them from above. It was tested on March 1, 1945, reaching an altitude of 1,500 meters, but its flight ended with the death of the pilot.
