Solferino. Late evening. The carnage of the battle, a land of horror and death, is described by Genevan Jean-Henri Dunant. He will recount all this in a book, Un Souvenir de Solferino (1862). He will then work to establish a medical service for the wounded and suffering, without barriers of nationality. From his work will be born the International Committee of the Red Cross, based, of course, in Geneva.
