United States. Pete Conrad, the future Apollo 12, graduated from Princeton in the US Navy on June 16, 1953, and married Jane the next day. He had earlier entered the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Princeton, and had embarked on the USS Missouri. In 1958, he received the top-secret call-up for selection for the space program. He passed all the rigorous tests (well depicted in the film The Right Stuff). On September 17, 1962, he was assigned to the Gemini missions. He flew on Gemini 5 in August 1965 with Gordon Cooper, and on Gemini 11 in September 1966 with Richard Gordon.
