Vicenza. Third and decisive Austrian assault on the city. It is led personally by Radetzky with 30,000 men and 124 cannons. The defense, led by Papal Giovanni Durando, is stubborn everywhere, but the Austrian pressure is unbearable. The defenders attempt a counterattack with Massimo d’Azeglio and Colonel Enrico Cialdini. The move is unsuccessful, and Cialdini is seriously wounded.
