Tamerlane arrives in Anatolia with 140,000 men against Bayazid’s 85,000. The confrontation begins with the betrayal of the Black Tatars, who defect to the Mongols. Also on Bayazid’s side are the Serbs led by Stefan Lazarevic, and on Tamerlane’s side are the Genoese. Tamerlane prevails and captures Bayazid, who dies in captivity the following year.
