Milazzo. Garibaldi’s follower Vincenzo Malenchini moves his men onto an exposed beach to attack a Bourbon infantry outpost. He suffers heavy losses. For the rest of the day, bayonet attacks continue from house to house. All the commanders are on the front lines: in addition to Garibaldi, always present, there are Medici, Simonetta, Missori, Cosenz, the Englishman John Dunne and his very young Sicilians dressed in white. On the other side, the colonel is also always on the front lines, instilling courage among the Bourbons.
