Around 9:30 a.m. (Florida East Coast time), Mike Collins, aboard the Saturn V, later recalled thinking: “You’re used to seeing swarms of people, crowds of engineers crowding around the launch pad and the rocket. Then suddenly they all disappear. And you think, ‘Good God, maybe they know something I don’t.’”
