The plutonium from the Trinity Site experiment is transported, in two separate vehicles, from Los Alamos to the designated location in the semi-desert Jornada del Muerto area. It is thus officially transferred from the military to the scientists, who that same evening assemble it in the device, using a toolbox identical to the one shipped to the Pacific island of Tinian.
