Italian East Africa. In Addis Ababa, Viceroy Graziani is seriously injured in an attack by African patriots. Fascist Party Secretary Cortese orders a reprisal, literally unleashing the civilian population, whom he considers soldier-colonialists. For three days and three nights, they transform the city into a hellish circle. The Ethiopians are shot and bayoneted, chased away, beaten, or clubbed. Homes are burned and sometimes looted.
