ISIS emailed the family of the death of Kayla Mueller, 26, who had been kidnapped by ISIS two years earlier. In August, several testimonies revealed that Abu Sayyaf and the Islamic State caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had repeatedly raped her and that she had been tortured. The caliph was seriously injured months later, and Abu Sayyaf was killed during a raid by US Delta Forces. His wife, Umm Sayyaf, was captured, interrogated, and then extradited to the Kurds. Umm Sayyaf later confirmed Kayla Mueller’s treatment.
