Yemen. Military intervention with American drones and Yemeni ground support for the release of two Western hostages threatened with execution in the coming hours. The two hostages are fatally wounded by Islamic terrorists. They are American journalist Luke Somers and South African Pierre Korkie, who was about to be freed. Two kidnappers, members of Al Qaeda, are killed in the operation, while the two hostages die after being taken aboard the American ship. Eight civilians are also killed.
