Benazir Bhutto, the main opposition candidate in the elections scheduled for the following January 8, is also assassinated in a suicide attack that kills more than 35 people; Bhutto was the daughter of a former Pakistani prime minister, killed after a coup d’état, and she herself was prime minister of Pakistan.
