Israel. A series of 23 bombings on Israeli buses by Palestinian terrorists resulted in a total of 236 deaths. During the same period, traffic deaths in Israel remained higher than those from terrorist attacks. Our System 1 (automatic and intuitive) risk perception, as well explained by psychologist Daniel Kahneman, tends to exaggerate the significance of these acts, to the terrorists’ advantage.
