A contingent of American Marines is surprised in China after the attack on Pearl Harbor and attempts to leave the country, which is occupied by the Japanese; the Marines are in possession of the bones of the Peking Man (Sinanthropus pekinensis) discovered by Canadian Davidson Black at Dragon Bone Hill in China; they are intercepted by the Japanese and imprisoned; the bones are left by the roadside by the Japanese and never found again; no more remains of the Peking Man will be found.
