The daring raiders of the Decima MAS (X MAS) deal a devastating blow to the Royal Navy. Six men, escaping from the submarine Sciré, enter the Bay of Alexandria astride their assault craft, known as “pigs.” They avenge the mockery of Matapan by sinking the battleships Valiant and Queen Elizabeth, as well as a large oil tanker. However, the Italians are captured, and the government in Rome only learns it has regained control of the Mediterranean four months later, when Churchill is required to report to the House of Commons.
