German Zeppelin airships carry out the first strategic bombing raid in history. The target is Liège, Belgium. Many other bombing raids will follow, especially over southern England, first targeting military targets, then civilians, with the aim of weakening British morale. Paris will also be bombed, and Notre Dame Cathedral will suffer minor damage.
